To visitors, especially those new to our website, we extend a warm welcome. This page will acquaint you with our organization, policies, and procedures. All purchasing transactions over $5,000 must be authorized in writing by the City of Milwaukee's Purchasing Division in order for them to be valid and negotiable.
Mission Statement
The Purchasing Division's mission is to acquire Commodities and Services for City Departments in the most cost effective, efficient, and impartial manner within the appropriate guidelines. Purchasing maintains the highest commitment to racial equity, transparency, and innovation while supporting programs and initiatives that empower city residents to become involved in contracting opportunities available at the City.

Socially-Responsible Contractors (SRC) Program
Effective December 12, 2018, the City of Milwaukee adopted (09/25/2018) the Socially-Responsible Contractors Ordinance 310-10 (published: 10/11/2018) that supports a bid scoring system that awards additional points to socially-responsible contractors who make efforts to eliminate, or significantly reduce, barriers to employment. The purpose of this ordinance is to ensure contributions toward community betterment made by socially-responsible contractors are recognized and rewarded.

All of the Purchasing Division's current bid opportunities are posted to our website. Bid notices for all bids and RFPs are sent out via e-mail using the E-Notify service. Formal bids and Requests for Proposal are also advertised in The Daily Reporter and Milwaukee Business Journal.

Auctions
Online Auctions
The City of Milwaukee is currently using the online auction site, wisconsinsurplus.com, for the sale of its surplus items. Anyone may register at their website and bid on City items.
Terms: All items being offered for sale are being sold as is, where is, with no warranty or guarantee.
Vehicle Auctions
Vehicles and Equipment are sold periodically at joint live auctions conducted on Milwaukee County grounds at Milwaukee County Fleet Management, 10320 Watertown Plank Road, Wauwatosa, WI. For more details, please visit the auctioneer's website.
Payments: Cash, cashier's checks, traveler's checks, or personal checks accompanied with a bank letter of credit are acceptable methods of payment. Payment is required in full on the day of sale. Terms: All items being offered for sale are being sold as is, where is, with no warranty or guarantee. Vehicles that are in need of repairs are also periodically sold through the online auction site.
