Update to Water Main Incident at N. Humboldt Ave. and E. Concordia Ave.

MILWAUKEE – Yesterday, during scheduled valve maintenance on a large water main near N. Humboldt Ave. and E. Concordia Ave., a significant amount of water was released into the street. The main was taken out of service and has since been fully drained. Crews have remained on site managing cleanup and traffic control, as well as removing damaged pavement and debris from the area to prepare for repairs beginning tomorrow.

This afternoon, crews completed the initial assessment and anticipate that restoration work will continue into early next week.

The intersection remains closed to traffic while work continues, though the northbound lanes remain open. There has been no impact on water quality or water service for Milwaukee Water Works customers.

“We appreciate the community’s patience as our crews continue cleanup and repair efforts,” said Milwaukee Water Works Superintendent Patrick Pauly. “Our priority is to restore the intersection as quickly and safely as possible while maintaining reliable water service to our customers.”
