You received a postcard because the type of water pipe (called a service line) at your property is currently unknown. The City of Milwaukee Water Works is working to update our records so we can improve water quality and plan for future pipe replacements.

Please use this form to tell us about the pipe that brings water into your home—even if you’re not sure what kind it is. Your response helps us make sure everyone has safe, clean drinking water.

2. A close-up of the pipe before the shutoff valve or meter Take a close photo showing about 6-12 inches of the pipe. If it is safe, gently scratch the pipe with a coin or key, then take a photo of the scratched spot. This helps show what the pipe is made of: (Please name your image with address. For example: 5451 S Washington shutoff valve) Dull silver and easy to scratch = lead Shiny copper color = copper Gray or rusty, and a magnet sticks = galvanized Iron
