Two new TINs launched
Two new neighborhoods were designated as Targeted Investment Neighborhoods (TINs) at the onset of 2016. The Layton Boulevard and Lighthouse neighborhoods were selected from a pool of applicants to be designated as TIN areas, where housing rehabilitation resources are available under the HOME Rehabilitation and Rental Rehabilitation programs over a three-year period to support ongoing community improvement and quality of life initiatives that are led by residents and community-based organizations. Layton Boulevard West Neighbors and Havenwoods Economic Development Corp. are the lead community partners for the two newest TINs.
The Beerline and Old North Milwaukee neighborhoods were named TINs in 2015. Riverworks Development Corporation is the lead community partner for the Beerline TIN and Agape Community Center will serve as the lead agency in the Old North Milwaukee TIN. Both of these neighborhoods also participate in the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative (HNI), which is supported by the City of Milwaukee and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. The HNI provides support to participating neighborhoods to implement community improvement projects, to beautify their neighborhoods and homes and to market neighborhood amenities to support the local real estate market.
