The City of Milwaukee has hundreds of opportunities for new home building. Our affordable lot prices can put a newly constructed home within your reach. Building a house in one of Milwaukee’s urban neighborhoods puts you close to downtown, jobs, shopping, schools, entertainment and parks.

Commercial Listings advertise retail stores, mixed-use buildings, multi-family properties or industrial facilities for sale and renovation.  Most properties will use licensed commercial brokers for property showings and offer submissions. We look for quality renovations and project feasilbity, as well as offer price.

Neighborhood Developments

The Bronzeville New Homes Initiative promotes homeownership and new construction in the greater Bronzeville area – from N. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. to I-43/N. 7th St. between W. Garfield Ave. and W. Center St. A select number of lots will be sold for $1.00 to buyers who will build and occupy traditional-style homes.

Walnut Circle is one of Milwaukee’s newest single-family subdivisions, located near the intersection of 20th and Walnut.

Vacant Lots

The City owns and maintains more than 3,000 vacant lots. Some lots get developed, many are being used informally by neighbors for community gardens and parks, and many more lie dormant waiting for their potential to be realized.

Brownfield Opportunities

There are many resources available to learn what a Brownfield property is and how to navigate the process of assessing, remediating and redeveloping a Brownfield property. Tax delinquent brownfields range from several acre parcels with multiple buildings to vacant lots of minimal size.

Development Sites

Development sites owned by the City, Redevelopment Authority or MPS are available for commercial and industrial developments that contribute business and retail services to our commercial districts or increase employment in our industrial corridors. Select residential tracts or unique infill lots are also available to expand housing opportunities. Sites listed below are available for quality developments that meet the specified use requirements and City design guidelines, are financially viable and ready for immediate construction and expand our tax base.
