Nominations Sought for the 2016 Mayor’s Design Awards
The City of Milwaukee is accepting nominations for the 19th Annual Mayor’s Design Awards. The Mayor’s Design Awards are presented to recognize top local design additions to the built environment throughout the City of Milwaukee.
“Every year we see more great additions to Milwaukee. New buildings, parks, amenities, and landscaping add to the fabric of our neighborhoods,” Mayor Tom Barrett said. “The beauty, function, activity, innovation, and energy should be celebrated. Let’s get more projects the attention they deserve.”
Recipients of the award are honored for having added value to their neighborhoods by restoring, constructing, or enhancing their properties in a way that respects the urban fabric and contributes to the character of their surroundings. Sometimes awards go to grand, landmark structures; awards also go to smaller projects such as landscaping in a residential neighborhood.
Nominations are encouraged from the public and from individuals or organizations involved in the nominated project. Worthy projects must be located in the City of Milwaukee and must have been completed (or nearly completed) any time prior to December 31, 2015. Submissions are welcome on or before March 25th at http://city.milwaukee.gov/MayorsDesignAwards/2016-Nomination-Form.
