City of Milwaukee Hosts 2025 Respiratory Season Awareness Kick-Off
MILWAUKEE – Respiratory season has arrived, and protecting yourself against the flu is more important than ever. On Wednesday, November 5, join Mayor Cavalier Johnson and the City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) at Neighborhood House of Milwaukee for a press event highlighting respiratory season readiness. Speakers will roll up their sleeves to receive their annual flu and COVID-19 vaccines and share essential tips on staying healthy throughout the season.
The flu and COVID-19 vaccines are recommended for everyone aged 6-months and older, with a special focus on those at higher risk of severe illness, including 65 and over, young children, and pregnant individuals. After the event, flu and COVID-19 vaccines will be offered free of charge to everyone
6-months and older on a first-come, first-served basis. Free flu and COVID-19 vaccines are also available at the MHD’s three immunization clinics.

**Speakers will receive their seasonal flu vaccine following remarks.
“Getting your flu protects yourself and the people around you. Every vaccination helps reduce the spread of illness,” said Commissioner of Health, Mike Totoraitis, PhD. “Flu season is here, and the best defense is a strong offense that protects you, your loved ones, and the most vulnerable in our city.”
“Flu season affects every corner of our city,” said Mayor Cavalier Johnson. “Vaccination is one of the simplest, most effective ways we can all contribute to a healthier Milwaukee. When we take action together, we build a stronger, safer community.”
“At Neighborhood House, we believe in caring for one another,” said Jon Janowski, Executive Director of Neighborhood House of Milwaukee. “Getting vaccinated is a powerful act of kindness. It means showing up for your neighbors, your elders, and the children who count on us to keep them safe.”
