Common Council
The City of Milwaukee continues to see tragic fires in which smoke detectors were removed or not operating. Ald. Coggs encourages all residents to have a working smoke detector.
A smoke detector is a very inexpensive safety tool. The fire department recommends that one detector be placed on each floor of your home and one in each bedroom and/or sleeping area. Ald. Coggs encourages residents of the 6th District who do not have a working smoke detector in their home to call the Smoke Detector Hotline at 414-286-8980 to see if they might be eligible for a free detector.
