City Clerk's Office
CRC administers records and information management for all City Departments, for records in all formats (paper, electronic, or other). The CRC manager, Brad Houston, is the designated City Records Officer, representing the City to the Wisconsin Public Records Board for retention schedule approval and other Citywide records issues. CRC also works with departmental records coordinators as their primary point of contact for records issues, including training, retention schedule creation or deletion, and records survey/inventory. Coordinators are also responsible for maintaining a current list of approved departmental schedules for internal use.
As part of the citywide records management initiative, the CRC maintains Global Records Schedules, which describe and dictate retention periods for records used by multiple departments (personnel, fiscal/accounting, etc.) Departments are automatically subject to Global Schedules but may opt out if a more specific schedule is required.
