City of Milwaukee Weekly COVID-19 Update
MILWAUKEE – This week’s data continues the declining trend that we’ve been experiencing over the past month. The burden rate is again at the lowest we’ve observed since the beginning of the pandemic, at 18.8 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people, and remains in the “moderate transmission” category. The percentage of positive tests is at 1.8%, down from 2.2% last week, and remains in the “low transmission” category.
As the City of Milwaukee continues the transition from the pandemic response stage to pandemic recovery stage, the Health Department implements changes to reflect the needs of the community. Today, June 11, is the final day the downtown shuttle to American Family Field’s testing facilities will be in service. The testing site remains open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Yount parking lot. Anyone who experiences COVID-19 symptoms is encouraged to get tested as soon as possible.
With 44.1% of City of Milwaukee adults having completed their vaccination series, and 50.7% having received at least one dose, we are still seeing weekly growth.
“Vaccination is a community effort,” said Milwaukee Health Commissioner Kirsten Johnson. “Even if you have already received your shot, you can still help to vaccinate others. Take time to reach out to the unvaccinated loved ones in your life. Share your experience, be a trusted resource, go with them to a vaccination clinic, and help keep your community safe.”
The Health Department vaccination team will be out in the community this week with events at places of worship, Bradford Beach, and a couple Brewers games. The Brewers vaccination clinics will be held similarly to the previous clinics at American Family Field. Each person who gets vaccinated will receive two tickets to that day’s game. On Tuesday, June 15, the clinic will be held from 4:10 until 7 p.m., and on Wednesday, June 16, the clinic will be open from 9:10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Helfaer Field. The full schedule of this week’s mobile clinics is attached.
Additional changes to vaccination clinics:
- Friday, June 11 is the final day for the vaccination clinics at the Milwaukee Public Schools, as the school year has come to an end.
- Beginning Tuesday, June 15, the hours at the Northwest and Southside Health Center Vaccination Clinics will change to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m.
