Additional Cleaning Kits Secured for Flood Recovery Distribution

MILWAUKEE – The City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) continues to distribute free cleaning kits to support people impacted by last week’s historic flooding. Due to overwhelming demand, the original supply was fully distributed. MHD secured an additional supply of cleaning kits today thanks to a generous donation from the Midwest Food Bank. Another shipment will arrive tomorrow through a second donation from the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).

Because demand has been extremely high, the community should expect long waits at the distribution site. MHD asks for patience and understanding as staff and partners work quickly to serve everyone in need. People are encouraged to arrive in a vehicle if possible. Walk-ins should be reserved for those only without vehicle access. The Milwaukee Police Department is assisting on site to assist with crowd management.

“Families across Milwaukee are still struggling with the aftermath of this flooding, and the need for safe cleanup supplies remains urgent,” said Commissioner of Health Mike Totoraitis, PhD. “We are deeply grateful to Midwest Food Bank and UMCOR for stepping in with additional donations, and to our MHD staff and The Salvation Army for their continued partnership at the distribution site. Their dedication is helping our community recover.”
