MILWAUKEE – The City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) and Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) in conjunction with the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Heat Heath Advisory for Sunday, July 14 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Southeastern Wisconsin. The NWS forecast indicates Heat Index values at or above 100 degrees are expected across the area on Sunday afternoon, with the potential for an additional advisory on Monday.
MHD will be enhancing surveillance for heat-related illness in the coming days and working with Milwaukee Metropolitan Extreme Weather Task Force partners to address vulnerable population needs during this period.
To prevent heat-related illness or death, MHD advises people to take the following precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
