2026 State of the City Address
The Year of Housing
Mayor Cavalier Johnson joined residents and community members for his annual State of the City Address on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy, 2212 N. Vel R. Phillips Ave.
This year’s theme, The Year of Housing, centered on a simple belief: everything begins at home. Mayor Johnson intentionally selected a location in the heart of the Bronzeville neighborhood to reflect the City’s ongoing commitment to expanding housing affordability and strengthening Milwaukee communities.
During the address, the Mayor highlighted nearby transformative developments, including the Historic Garfield Apartments—a former Milwaukee Public School thoughtfully converted into affordable housing—and ThriveOn King, which includes mixed-income units and community-centered investments. Together, these projects represent the progress being made to help Milwaukee’s neighborhoods thrive.
Community members attended and took part in this important conversation about the future of our city. The event was free and open to the public.
