Cynthia Wilson – Resilience in Action Award 2026
Cynthia Wilson embodies what it means to turn tragedy into transformation. Guided by strength, perseverance, and deep compassion, since the death of her son, she has dedicated herself to ensuring other families do not endure the pain she has faced. Through anti-violence initiatives, support for grieving families, and financial assistance for youth sports opportunities, Cynthia creates positive outlets for young people and meets families’ basic needs during times of loss, often through meals, comfort, and unwavering presence. Her impact is lasting, powerful, and rooted in love for community.
Tahira Malik – Outstanding Citizen Award 2026
From pain can come purpose, and Tahira Malik is living proof. After overcoming addiction and incarceration, Tahira transformed her lived experience into a mission rooted in healing and second chances. She is the founder of Samad’s House, now one of the Midwest’s leading sober homes for women, providing hope, dignity, and stability to those rebuilding their lives. Through Samad’s House, lives have been restored, and families have been strengthened, and Milwaukee is better because of her heart for service.
Shelly Conley – Leadership in Action Award 2026
Leadership often begins with a voice, and Shelly Conley has used hers to inspire change. As Milwaukee’s Poet Laureate, Shelly uplifts stories, strengthens community, and leads with authenticity and purpose. She is especially passionate about empowering young girls to embrace their identity, speak their truth, and use their voices boldly. Through her artistry and advocacy, Shelly continues to shape Milwaukee’s culture and future.
Muhibb Dyer – Community Connector Award 2026
Milwaukee is stronger because of people who bring others together, and Muhibb Dyer is one of those leaders. With a unique gift for connection and trust-building, Muhibb has served thousands through his I Will Not Die Campaign, meeting people where they are and creating pathways to hope, support, and community. His work is a testament to what true service looks like, and his influence continues to reach across neighborhoods throughout the city.
