City Seeks Public Feedback on Vision Zero Action Plan Eliminating Traffic Deaths and Serious Injury Is the Goal
Milwaukee is seeking public feedback on the Vision Zero Action Plan, a detailed document that specifies strategic goals and specific actions to dramatically increase safety on city streets. Members of the public have an opportunity to participate in a Vision Zero webinar on April 7th and/or in-person open houses later in the month.
“The City of Milwaukee is making important progress toward our Vision Zero goal. While there continues to be too many people seriously injured or killed on our streets, the safe systems approach is working,” Mayor Cavalier Johnson said. “Reckless driving justifiably remains a top concern here, so, there is broad support for the actions we have taken. As you will see in this plan, there is also a commitment to develop new approaches, adapting our response to the scourge of danger on our roads.”
Seven strategic goals and one-hundred actions are included in the Action Plan. The draft of the Vision Zero Action Plan is available online at milwaukee.gov/VisionZero. That same site offers an opportunity to participate in an online survey and includes details on how to participate in the upcoming webinar.
The in-person open houses will take place on Tuesday, April 15th at the Villard Square Library, 5190 N. 35th Street, and on Tuesday, April 22nd at the Mitchell Street Library, 906 West Historic Mitchell Street. Both events begin at 4pm and are scheduled to run for three hours.
