Are you a 17 - 20 year old with high integrity who cares about Milwaukee and wants to represent positive change in our community? The Police Aide program will be the ideal path for you to earn money while you develop the skills you'll use in a career in law enforcement. This unique position provides the opportunity to help Milwaukee’s citizens every day, while also focusing on the your educational, physical fitness, personal and professional development.
Police Aides are uniformed civilian employees who serve in a 2 year apprentice-style program. After completion of the program Aides are given preferential entry to the following Police Officer recruitment class. Duties include administrative and clerical functions and processing of department arrestees. The assignments are widely varied so that the Police Aide can experience a broad range of operational and administrative functions. Police Aides are required to meet established criteria by completing a prescribed course of college curriculum and a physical fitness program prior to being considered for appointment to Police Officer.
