Community Outreach

The Fire and Police Commission (FPC) believes that public safety works best when it is built together—with transparency, accountability, and trust. Our Outreach team connects the Commission with Milwaukee residents, neighborhoods, and organizations to ensure that every voice has the opportunity to shape how police and fire services serve our city.

What We Do

  • Listen & Connect – We attend community events, festivals, neighborhood meetings, and public forums to hear your ideas, concerns, and questions.

  • Share Resources – We provide clear information about FPC policies, meetings, complaint and commendation processes, and opportunities to serve on or with the Commission.

  • Support Participation – We make it easier for residents to attend public meetings, submit comments, and follow FPC decisions through accessible formats and outreach.

  • Promote Recruitment – We share information about police officer, firefighter, and civilian career opportunities, and encourage diverse Milwaukee residents to consider public safety careers.

  • Build Partnerships – We work with libraries, schools, community groups, and neighborhood associations to expand understanding and trust in civilian oversight.

How to Get Involved

  • Attend a Meeting – All Commission meetings are open to the public. Agendas and schedules are posted in advance.

  • Share Your Voice – Submit feedback or public comments online, by phone, or in person. Your input helps guide policy decisions.

  • File a Complaint or Commendation – Let us know about positive or negative interactions with police or fire personnel. The FPC reviews and tracks every submission.

  • Invite Us – If your organization or neighborhood is hosting an event, we can bring information, resources, and listening sessions to your community.

  • Stay Updated – Follow the FPC on Facebook and watch for event notices to keep connected.
