Windows and Energy Efficiency

New energy efficient windows save energy as compared to older or single pane windows. Information on selecting ENERGY STAR® rated windows can be found at the Efficient Windows Collaborative™ or by contacting a Participating Me2 Contractor.  Windows, however, are not ordinarily the biggest culprit for uncomfortable drafts and wasted energy in the home. Rather, air sealing and insulation through Focus on Energy’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program typically provides the most cost effective solutions to saving energy and improving the comfort of your home.

Participating Me2 Full Service or Insulation/Air Sealing Contractors can provide a comprehensive home energy assessment that will identify solutions customized for your home.  Focus on Energy also provides rebates for insulation and airs sealing, but not for windows.  Me2 requires that homeowners first have their attic insulated and air sealed to minimum standards prior to, or in conjunction with, financing new windows.  Windows financed through Me2 must be installed by a Participating Me2 Contractor.

Customers wishing to finance windows through Me2 should have their Participating Me2 contractor complete this form.

Focus on Energy & New Me2 Bonus Incentives

Focus on Energy Incentives

Focus on Energy is Wisconsin utilities’ statewide energy efficiency and renewable resource program. Focus on Energy is funded by the state’s investor-owned energy utilities, as required by law, and participating municipal and electric cooperative utilities. To participate in Focus on Energy programs, residents or business owners must be customers of a participating utility, such as We Energies.

Focus on Energy incentives for homeowners offers two levels of incentives. "Tier 2 Incentives" offer higher incentives for income-eligible households and require you to complete an application.  Tier 1 Incentives are not based on income and are available directly through your Participating Me2 Contractor. See the table below.

New Me2 Bonus Incentives

You can pair incentives from the statewide Focus on Energy program with an Me2 Loan and New Me2 Bonus Incentives! Starting in October 2020, Me2 is offering additional incentives for applicants that qualify for Focus on Energy Tier 2 Incentives.

If you qualify, download the Tier 2 Income Eligibility Application and Guidelines from the Focus on Energy website and submit it directly to Focus on Energy along with the required income documentation. If Focus on Energy approves you for Tier 2 incentives, they will send you an approval letter. Submit a copy of the Focus on Energy Tier 2 approval letter to Me2 along with the Residential Project Detail Form and Me2 Completion Certificate to receive your bonus incentives.

Complete applications must be received within 60 days of installation. Me2 bonus funding is limited and will be paid out on a first come, first served basis. Me2 Bonus Incentives plus Focus on Energy Incentive cannot exceed the cost of the improvement. Me2 bonus incentives are only paid once per household.
