Sanitation collects garbage and household recyclables from approximately 190,000 households with 1 - 4 units in the City of Milwaukee. Garbage is collected weekly, and recycling is collected every other week. Collection schedules may shift after City Holidays.

Non-emergency DPW services are suspended on Friday, July 17th.
Garbage and recycling collections were also suspended on Thursday and are expected to resume on Monday. Crews will first service carts scheduled for Thursday collection before starting Friday's routes as time allows, then Monday's. Due to continued poor air quality and an elevated heat index; garbage and recycling collection will not be scheduled for Saturday. Carts must be set out as scheduled and remain at the curb or alley line until serviced.
