Street & Alley Sweeping
The City of Milwaukee conducts mechanical sweeping of streets and alleys as weather conditions allow. A post winter “heavy sweeping” program usually begins in late March and continues throughout April clearing curb lanes and alleys of winter’s accumulation of debris.
Street sweeping frequency varies based on population density, on street parking and combined sewer borders. Sweepers are attached with leaf rakes in October and November to consolidate small leaf piles into bigger piles for more efficient collection of leaves.
