Lead Hazard Investigations with MPS
In early 2025, The City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) identified hazardous levels of lead contamination in multiple Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) buildings. These findings, uncovered through separate case investigations by our Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP), in consultation with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), confirm lead hazards inside MPS buildings that exceed state safety standards. Pediatric Lead Poisoning Education
The City of Milwaukee Health Department, together with Children’s Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and the Wisconsin Poison Center, has released a new training video focused on pediatric lead poisoning. This resource provides a clear overview of lead risks in Milwaukee, why testing is essential, and what providers need to know to support affected children and families.
