Biennial Exemption Report
- Property owners of exempt properties MUST file exemption reports with our office by March 31 of every even numbered year.
- A filing fee will be assessed for the processing of your Tax Exemption Report.
- Churches that qualify for property tax exemption under Wis. Stat. §70.11(4)(a)1 will not be charged this fee.
- The filing fee will be added to your tax bill as a special charge. Do not send a check to the Assessor’s Office.
- The filing fee is $50 per parcel.
- The Assessor uses information on the Tax Exemption Report to determine whether your property still meets the statutory criteria for property tax exempt status.
- Not all exempt properties are required to complete a Tax Exemption Report. To determine whether you must file this report, please refer to the Wisconsin Department of Revenue’s PC-220 information page.

- Biennial Exemption Report (PC-220)
- This needs to be filed by exempt property owners by March 31st of even years.
- Biennial Exemption Report - Multiple Properties (PC-220A)
- This form can be filed by property owners that have more than one exempt real estate holding by March 31 of even years.
- Unrelated Business Income Report (PC-227)
- If your exempt property is taxed in part, you are required to also submit this form annually by March 15.
- FAILURE TO FILE; PENALTY. A person who fails to file an Unrealted Business Income Report (PC-227) within 30 days after
notification, as provided in Wis. Stat. §70.339 (3), shall forfeit $10 for each succeeding day on which the form is not received by the commissioner of assessments, but not more than $500. This fee may be added to the property tax bill as a special charge.

Guidance Specific to City of Milwaukee Properties
- Section 4. Location of Property should read: ✓ City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County
- Section 8. The City of Milwaukee refers to Parcel Number as “Taxkey”. Your taxkey can be found on your tax bill, assessment notice, or you can look it up at assessments.milwaukee.gov.
- Section 9. A legal description is the formal description of your property’s location and boundary. Your property’s legal description can be found on your deed, tax bill, assessment notice, or you can look it up at assessments.milwaukee.gov.
