$500 ROOTS Landscaping Incentive Program


Guidelines:

  • $500 landscaping cash award - exclusively for City-owned properties sold to owner occupants
     
  • Priority should be given to the front yard
     
  • Landscaping includes flowers, sod, grass seed, bushes, fencing, miscellaneous or purchase of lawn care tools including lawnmowers, snowblowers, trimmers, tillers, shovels, rakes, etc.
     
  • Six-month maximum timeframe from the date of closing to completion
     
  • After six-month maximum timeframe, incentive is forfeited
     
  • Your real estate agent completes the City of Milwaukee - Offer to Purchase and must check the box under Section 8 to participate in this program. Note that requests to participate in the program after the sale closes are not accepted.
     

Roots Incentive Program


Refund Process:

  • Complete the landscaping
     
  • Submit store receipts for purchases or contractor's paid receipt
     
  • Site inspection and approval of refund by Department of City Development personnel
     
  • Refund to be mailed within six weeks
