Paint the Pavement gives Milwaukee residents the opportunity to showcase streets as places for people to enjoy. This program turns city streets and sidewalks into canvases that help enhance community identify and build a sense of place.
Current Locations
There are five areas of the city right-of-way that are eligible for the Paint the Pavement program:
DPW partnered with LUNA LLC, Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers, and Near West Side Partners to close two right-turn slip lanes at busy intersections on the South Side (Lapham Blvd & Cesar Chavez Dr) and West Side (Highland Blvd & 27th St) of the city and install vibrant murals, with the help of two local artists and input from local youth and community members.
