AVANZADO

Avanzando was founded in the summer of 2019 and is an Employee Resource Group (ERG) dedicated to the advancement and inclusion of the Hispanic/Latinx community within the City of Milwaukee.

"Avanzando" means "moving forward" in Spanish.

Our mission? To promote the advancement of the Hispanic/Latinx community working at the City of Milwaukee by providing personal and professional development opportunities that attract, engage, and retain employees. We seek to foster awareness, understanding, and inclusion of Hispanic/Latinx heritage within City services.

¡Algo especial está coming! 
We’re excited to share a little preview of what Avanzando has planned for this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month. With the theme "The Year of Housing," we will celebrate our cultura y herencia and also shine the spotlight on individuals/organizatons that have greatly contributed to the City and community!

  • 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • City Hall Rotunda 

Food and beverages will be available for attendees, along with a few surprises! We look forward to coming together as a community to recognize our culture, contributions, and the many ways Hispanic/Latinx employees continue to make an impact across the City of Milwaukee.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent Avanzando Ice Cream Social! It was great to take a break, connect with colleagues, and celebrate the community within Avanzando MKE. Your support is what makes our ERG special!

    • We’ve extended our Member Survey Results Raffle until August 28, 2026! Complete the survey for a chance to win a $25 lunch gift card. Winners will be announced on September 16, 2026! Both raffle winners will be announced on September 16, 2026!

Municipal ID Card

Important things to remember:

  • Your ID CANNOT be used to vote in Wisconsin.
  • You must be 14 years or older to apply. (Those under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.)
  • Your ID will expire in 5 years.
  • You must notify the License Division within 10 days if your address changes or if your ID is lost or stolen. (There is a $5 replacement fee.)
  • Information provided on your application may be released in response to a public records request.
