2025 Summer Ice Cream Social!

Avanzando partnered with Paletería Yayo to host an end-of-summer Ice Cream Social and to celebrate the upcoming Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.

We work hard, but we make time for fun!

On June 20, 2024, Avanzando hosted an Ice Cream Social for its members at Red Arrow Park! You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! ¡Gracias a todos! Thank you Rolling Cones Ice Cream for the yummy treats!

Avanzando has been busy!

We love spending time with the community, and participating in different events. 

Recently, Jessica Sanchez and Ben Sanchez participated in a Student Forum at St. Augustine Prep. They hosted a resource table to promote City of Milwaukee job and intern opportunities to the youth!

Avanzando members also joined the 4^th Annual Autism Charity Basketball Game, where Common Council President and also member of Avanzando José Pérez coached on one of the basketball teams! Raising funds for a good cause!

Avanzando's Foodies went to Punch Bowl Social!

On February 2, 2023, our Avanzando Food Group kicked off the New Year at Punch Bowl Social! 

Located in the heart of the Deer District, Punch Bowl Social was the perfect scenario for our "foodies" to meet for an evening of food, drinks, laughter, and wonderful company!

Avanzando joined HPGM for Noche de Niños

On December 14, 2022, Avanzando joined Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee (HPGM) for their annual holiday celebration at Wantable Cafe! Noche de Niños is the culmination of HPGM's toy/gift drive where sponsors, recipient organizations and the community come together in the spirit of giving.

We want to thank everyone who stopped by City Hall and dropped off a donation!

On Friday, September 16, 2022, the City of Milwaukee ERG, Avanzando, hosted its first Hispanic Heritage Month event at City Hall. An afternoon of music, food, fun, while also learning about valuable City resources, the event marked an amazing start to the celebration, and the recognition of our Hispanic community.

We want to thank everyone who said "presente" to this event, and helped make it so memorable: Mayor of Milwaukee Cavalier Johnson, Common Council President Jose Perez, Alderwoman JoCasta Zamarripa, Alderman Scott Spiker, Alderman Mark Borkowski, the Director of the Office of Violence Prevention Ashanti Hamilton, City Departments and ERG officials and representatives; the City Department of Employee Relations, City employees, Milwaukee residents who also stopped by, UW Milwaukee, La Revo Books, SalsaBrositas, La Costenita, Azteca, El Pozolero, and all of you who supported us along the way. We apologize if we missed someone, but know we are truly grateful!

At Avanzando MKE we look forward to continuing our mission of supporting and promoting the advancement of the Hispanic/Latinx community working at the City.
