The Environmental Collaboration Office (ECO) strives to make Milwaukee a world class eco-city on America's Fresh Coast. ECO develops practical solutions that improve people’s lives and the economy while working to protect and restore the natural ecosystems that support our long-term prosperity. We collaborate with the community, develop global partnerships, offer award-winning programs, and implement the Milwaukee Climate and Equity Plan.

 Adopted in 2023, provides the vision and foundation for climate action in Milwaukee with "10 Big Ideas" to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase racial equity, and make the city prosperous for the long term. Learn about green career opportunities at Milwaukee.gov/GreenJobs.

The FEED MKE Project 

Was a two-year, grant-funded initiative to coordinate and expand public, private, and governmental efforts, addressing the interconnected challenges of food insecurity.The project focused on reducing food waste, distributing surplus food, and diverting food from landfills through composting and soil improvement.

Milwaukee Energy Efficiency

Or Me2, provides affordable financing up to $15,000 for energy saving improvements like new insulation, furnaces, boilers, hot water heaters, air conditioners, and windows. With Me2 financing through Summit Credit Union, redirect some of the money spent on high energy bills into home improvements that will keep you and your family comfortable year round.

Is Milwaukee's solar energy program. Milwaukee Shines provides  information for home and business owners, resources for solar industry professionals, runs solar group buy programs in the City and partners with Summit Credit Union to offer solar loans up to $20,000.

Is an initiative to concentrate enough eco-activities in a neighborhood to inspire neighbors to continuously practice environmentally friendly behaviors while creating a lasting impact.

Commercial Programming

Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) 

Financing helps commercial property owners affordably finance energy or water efficiency, renewable energy, electric vehicle infrastructure, energy reliability, stormwater controls or "green infrastructure," and other resiliency upgrades in their buildings. Payments are collected through a voluntary municipal special charge that is  paid back through the property tax system and is attached to the property, not the owner.
