Vision Zero
Vision Zero is the goal of zero deaths or life-changing injuries from traffic crashes. Because everyone has the right to travel safely and no one should have to risk their life to walk, bike, use transit, or drive, the City of Milwaukee unanimously adopted Vision Zero as a policy in 2022. Since then, the City has taken many actions to build a system where streets are safe for everyone. The Vision Zero Action Plan has over 100 solutions that must be implemented to achieve the goal of zero traffic deaths or life-changing injuries in the City of Milwaukee by the end of 2037.

Vision Zero Summit
The City’s first Vision Zero Summit, on June 10, explored the big “how” questions around the goal of ending traffic deaths and life-changing injuries by the end of 2037.
The event was created thanks to community requests during the development of the Vision Zero Action Plan. Local researchers, educators, businesses, community members, public servants, and national leaders connected and inspired each other to implement the Vision Zero Action Plan.
More than 250 people attended the Summit in downtown Milwaukee. With panels, walks, bike tours, and a mobility fair, attendees learned from local and national leaders. The program provided a holistic approach to traffic safety, spanning policy, technology, the justice system, driver education, public transit, community-led initiatives and more. Thanks to the passion and commitment of attendees, Vision Zero has never felt so achievable.
Thanks to headline sponsors AAA of Wisconsin and AARP of Wisconsin and to all speakers, staff, volunteers, and attendees!
