How do I reach Mil?

What are the benefits of using Mil?

For City website usage, the benefits include improved navigation of the City’s website and quick answers to your City government-related questions. 

For 286-CITY calls, the benefits include shorter wait times, expanded service coverage outside traditional call center hours, multilingual assistance in over 75 languages, and better service insights to improve responsiveness, prioritization, and operational efficiency. 

What kind of questions can Mil answer?

Mil uses information from various City webpages found at city.milwaukee.gov, mpl.org, and other related City websites to answer questions about general city services, meetings, events, recycling and garbage collection, parking, permits, and more. 

What if Mil does not know the answer to my question?

Mil is always learning and improving based on what people ask and the feedback we get from residents. We strongly encourage residents to share their feedback to ensure that Mil is a reliable and growing resource. 

Mil is not a general information system and is not intended to answer basic questions outside of the scope of Milwaukee city government. Mil will transfer a call to a live agent in the call center queue if unable to answer a specific resident’s City question. 

What if I don’t want to interact with virtual voice agent Mil when calling 286-CITY?

Simply say “live agent” or “speak to a person” and your call will immediately be forwarded to a live agent in the call center queue.
