Project Summary

West National Avenue (from 27th Street to 39th Street)

Scheduled to begin shortly after Labor Day and be completed by Thanksgiving 2010, this project utilizes Transportation Enhancement funds from the State of Wisconsin along with city funding to improve intersections on West National Avenue between 27th and 39th Streets and to revise existing median islands and add new ones. Improvements to intersections will include streetscape elements such as stamped and colored concrete at the corners, installation of pedestrian ramps, new crosswalk markings, and installation of curb push-outs. New medians will be installed at 34th , 35th and 36th Streets with plantings and decorative fencing. Other existing medians will also be improved. Traffic on 35th Street will be realigned to improve traffic flow and safety. The city also plans to install new poles and street lights to complete the project.
