Project Overview

The City of Milwaukee’s “rapid implementation” initiative builds quick, low-cost street improvements to increase the safety and comfort of people walking, biking, and driving. 

The project on Burleigh consists of concrete pedestrian islands, curb extensions, and crosswalks placed on selected intersections on W. Burleigh Street from N. 56th Street to N. Sherman Boulevard. 

Project Intersection Locations:

  • N. 56th St. and W. Burleigh St. - Concrete curb extensions at NW & SE corners
  • N. 55th St. and W. Burleigh St. - Concrete curb extensions at NW & SE corners
  • N. 54th St. and W. Burleigh St. - Concrete curb extensions at NE & SE corners
  • N. 52nd St. and W. Burleigh St. - Concrete curb extensions at SW & NE corners
  • N. Gengler St. (West) and W. Burleigh St. - Concrete curb extension at NW corner
  • N. Gengler St. (East) and W. Burleigh St. - Concrete curb extension at NE corner
  • N. 49th St. and W. Burleigh St. - Concrete curb extensions at NW & SE corners 
  • N. 47th St. and W. Burleigh St.  - Concrete curb extensions at NW & SE corners
  • N. 46th St. and W. Burleigh St. - Concrete curb extensions at NW & SE corners
