Meter Hoods (Bags)

• No Parking - Parking is not permitted at that parking space regardless of the signed parking regulations. 
• Plain/Follow Parking Signs - Applicable parking regulations for that location still apply, review parking space signage, the meter does not need to be paid.

Meter hoods are used in a variety of circumstances where temporary parking regulations are needed such as special events and construction activity, charges may apply.

Time Limits

Metered parking spaces have varying time limits (15 minutes - 10 hours) depending on where they are located within the City. Adding additional payment in excess of the maximum time limit is prohibited and may result in a citation. Therefore, it is important to read the parking signage adjacent to the metered space to determine how long you may park there. 

Rates

Rates vary from $1/hour to $2.50/hour depending upon location, except for Special Event rates which vary up to $5/hour in specified areas.

Some streets do not require meter payments on Saturdays; however time restrictions may be in effect. Always read the posted parking sign to ensure you are in compliance.

No payment required nor any restrictions are enforced at metered space on Sundays and on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Report a Defective Meter

If the meter is defective and a parking citation is issued, the citation may be released if the claim can be substantiated by the City.  To dispute a parking citation appeal online or call the Violations Bureau at 414-344-0840.
