The Department of Neighborhood Services is assisting residents with flooding issues that have affected their homes. We are here to serve you and answer any questions you may have related to building code enforcement and flood damage. You may find the resources on this page helpful.
Reporting Flood Damage
To submit a complaint about flooding damage to your property, such as water flooding in your basement, contact us at 414-286-2268, submit online through Click4Action, or through the MKE Mobile Action App.
For flooding maters in the public right of way (sidewalks, streets) call 414-286-CITY, or use Click4Actionor MKE Mobile Action App.
Foundation Collapse and Damage
To report structural/foundation failures (partial or total collapse) caused by flooding, contact our Condemnation team by email (preferred) or by phone at 414-286-2795.
Take all safety precautions when monitoring the extent of damage and keep distance from the damaged area. With extensive foundation damage, the safest precaution would be to vacate the home until a licensed professional approves your return home.
Obtaining a Permit for Flood Repairs
The extent of your flood damage may warrant extensive home repairs. Certain repairs or alterations may require permits.

Although DNS cannot recommend a contractor for your home repair, we can direct you to licensed professionals. Contractors must be licensed by the State of Wisconsin, and also with the City of Milwaukee to conduct business in our community.
