2024 Mayor’s Design Awards now accepting nominations Nominations must be submitted by March 1, 2024
MILWAUKEE - The City of Milwaukee’s Department of City Development is currently accepting nominations for the 27th Annual Mayor’s Design Awards, which recognize design excellence and notable Milwaukee development projects. “Milwaukee is always changing with new public spaces, new buildings, and imaginative additions to neighborhoods. We celebrate the very best of what’s new in our city with the Mayor’s Design Awards,” Mayor Cavalier Johnson said. “Every year people step up with remarkable nominations which make the design awards a wonderful celebration.” Award recipients are honored for adding value to their neighborhoods by restoring, constructing, or enhancing their properties in a way that respects the urban fabric and contributes to the character of their surroundings. Awardees range from large iconic buildings to small business storefronts and community-led public art installations. “The past year brought exciting new developments to neighborhoods throughout the City of Milwaukee. From new housing to commercial storefronts and businesses, gathering spaces, and public art, we know that good design makes a real difference,” said Department of City Development Commissioner Lafayette Crump. “The Mayor’s Design Awards provide a chance to highlight worthy projects, and the designers, developers, property owners, and neighborhood partners creating beautiful buildings and public spaces. I encourage everyone to nominate deserving projects that are helping to grow Milwaukee.” Nominations are encouraged from the public, and individuals or organizations involved in the nominated project. Projects must be located in the City of Milwaukee and must have been completed (or nearly completed) any time before January 1, 2024. Nominations must be submitted HERE by Friday, March 1, 2024. Winners will be honored at an in-person award ceremony this May.
