North Avenue/Bronzeville district (from Martin Luther King to 7th)

The Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District, soon to be one of Milwaukee’s premier destination places, will undergo Phase One of an extensive streetscape enhancement project along West North Avenue from the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to North Seventh Street. The streetscape improvements will include concrete repaving, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and distinctive pavement treatments in designated intersections. Additional street amenities will be included such as informational kiosk, street furniture, commercial district signage, extensive landscaping and greening of public spaces. Construction is expected to be completed by September.

Project Update:  November 4, 2010 The Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District, soon to be one of Milwaukee’s premier destination places, will undergo Phase One of an extensive streetscape enhancement project along West North Avenue from the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to North Seventh Street. The streetscape improvements will include concrete repaving, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and distinctive pavement treatments in designated intersections. Additional street amenities will be included such as informational kiosk, street furniture, commercial district signage, extensive landscaping and greening of public spaces.

As of the end of October, the work on the north side of the project is nearly complete, with the exception of manhole adjustments and final asphalt. The work has begun on the south side, with removals, new curbs and bus pads underway. The work is anticipated to be completed by the end of November.
