SOUTH 60TH STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
PROJECT SUMMARY
The reconstruction project of South 60th Street between West Cold Spring Road to West Morgan Avenue will consist of removing the deteriorated pavement and replacing it with new concrete pavement, curbs & gutters, and sidewalks in necessary areas.The project will consist of reconstructing South 60th Street from a 4-lane divided roadway to a 2-lane divided roadway with bike lanes and parking.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING CONSTRUCTION
The City of Milwaukee works to minimize impact for businesses, residents and the traveling public during construction.
Traffic: South 60th Street will be open with a single lane of traffic moving in each direction.
Phase 3: Traffic will move to the northbound lanes on the east side of 60th Street between West Cold Spring Road to West Forest Home Avenue.
Phase 4: Traffic will move to the newly reconstructed southbound lanes on the west side of 60th Street between West Cold Spring Road to West Morgan Avenue.
Parking Information: On-street parking will not be allowed during construction.
Pedestrian Access: Pedestrian access will be maintained to adjacent properties and businesses with the least amount of inconvenience.
Driveway Access: City staff and the contractor will work to minimize the amount of time any driveway access is restricted, and will notify the property owners 48 hours in advance of any driveway work.
Bus Route: Bus Route #64 will remain in service throughout construction. Temporary bus stops and walkways will be provided in areas where the existing bus stops are located in the work zone. Milwaukee County Transit will install temporary bus stops signs as necessary.
Construction Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
