Call for Artists: Showcase Your Work in the Office of African American Affairs

Milwaukee – The City of Milwaukee Office of African American Affairs located at 4828 W. Fond du Lac Avenue is excited to announce a formal grand opening in 2025!

Leading up to the grand opening, the office is pleased to announce an open call for artists to submit their work for display in the Office of African American Affairs. This unique opportunity allows local artists to showcase their talents and adds to the beauty and cultural richness of the city.

“This initiative aims to create a space that inspires social interaction and cultural exchange and we hope to help people feel a sense of belonging and pride in the efforts of the Office of African American Affairs” said Director Khalif Rainey.

Submission Guidelines:

• Open to artists of all mediums including photos that capture the African American experience and historical moments in Milwaukee
• Work must be original and ready to hang or install
• Artists can submit up to three pieces

Submissions Must Include:

• High-quality images of artwork including dimensions of artwork
• Artist statement (maximum 250 words)
• Contact information  

Display Details:

• Selected artworks will be displayed in the City Building for a minimum of 6 months
• Artwork will be showcased in public areas, including hallways and meeting rooms
• An opening reception will be held to celebrate the exhibition
• Artwork may also be shared on City website or social media

Deadline for Submissions: October 15, 2024
