In 2015-2016, the Wisconsin Historical Society contracted for a survey of the industrial properties in the city. The purpose of the project was to find properties that would be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places and therefore eligible for substantial historic preservation tax credits if they were redeveloped. Additional information on the project can be found at the Wisconsin Historical Society website. They also provide information on the National Register program in Wisconsin and manage the tax credit program.
