Under the direction of the Library Facilities Manager, the Library Facilities Maintenance Supervisor has primary responsibility for the supervision of custodial and maintenance personnel and for the mechanical operations of the Milwaukee Public Library (MPL) system, including the historic landmark Central Library and 12 other facilities.

The Environmental Risk Officer conducts fire, license, permit and complaint inspections of various businesses for building maintenance, occupancy, fire prevention, life safety, environmental, and hazardous material compliance.

Heavy Equipment Operators (HEOs) drive and operate firefighting apparatus and perform related functions, including properly staging the vehicle, providing a water supply, putting pumps into operation, maintaining necessary flow and pressure, setting up master streams, operating aerial ladders and putting into use any equipment carried on the apparatus. HEOs actively participate in the provision of emergency medical care and firefighting operations.

Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, the City Payroll Specialist edits, processes, and pre-audits all data required for the proper operation of the City’s Human Capital Management System (HCM) to ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll payments to approximately 7,500 City employees. The payroll staff in the Comptroller’s Office, including the incumbent in this position, is the final authority ensuring compliance with the provisions of labor agreements and ordinances covering sworn personnel, non-represented personnel, and management.

The Customer Service Representative II provides customer service and clerical support for the Department of Neighborhood Services (DNS) in the Code Enforcement Section.

Only current City of Milwaukee employees and civilian personnel in MFD and MPD hired through a City Service Commission process who have successfully passed a probationary period for a Civil Service position or who have status as a City of Milwaukee employee in a fixed term position will be considered. Individuals with exempt, provisional, temporary, or emergency appointments are not eligible for transfer.
