Sanitation Services
The Department of Neighborhood Services (DNS) and Department of Public Works (DPW) encourages citizens to Take Action for a safer, cleaner Milwaukee with a Doorstep Cleanup. Doorstep Cleanups ask that residents, businesses, and property owners pitch in to help pick up litter - focusing on the front, back, and side areas of their property. Picking up nearby litter can easily be done and have a positive impact on the community.
In Spring of 2020, when the COVID-19 health emergency suspended most neighborhood cleanups, DNS and DPW, in cooperation with Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful (KGMB), launched the Doorstep Cleanup campaign. Now that Neighborhood Cleanups have resumed, KGMB will provide litter cleanup supplies for events.
When participating in a Neighborhood or Doorstep Cleanup be sure to: • Wear gloves • Avoid and do not pick up any sharp objects • Follow current CDC guidance on gatherings
