Meet Innovation Office Director Jim Bohl
Jim Bohl was appointed as the City’s inaugural Innovation Director in June 2024. Jim has over 25 years of collective service in Milwaukee city government, including 18 years’ service as 5th District Alderman on the Milwaukee Common Council, as well as administrative service as Director of the city’s Intergovernmental Relations Division and tenure as Mayor Cavalier Johnson’s initial Chief of Staff. Prior to his work in city government, Jim taught at the high school level in MPS and served as a congressional aide to then Congressman Tom Barrett.
A native of Milwaukee’s northwest side, Jim is a graduate of Milwaukee’s Madison High School and earned Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Marquette University. Jim and his wife Calleen reside on the city’s far west side and have three adult children.
