City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works Warns Residents of Recent Scam Related to Parking Citation Payments
The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works would like to alert the public about a recent parking scam targeting residents. We have received reports of individuals receiving a fraudulent text message claiming to be from the City, demanding payment for a parking citation and threatening a late fee if the citation is not paid immediately. The message may contain an unauthorized link, which is part of the scam.
Please note that the City of Milwaukee does not contact via text message regarding parking violations. Any legitimate parking citation will be issued on your vehicle or sent via first class mail to your registered address. We urge all residents not to click links or provide any personal information to these text messages. If you have any questions related to parking citations please call 414-344-0840. If you believe that you may have fallen victim to this scam, please report it to the Milwaukee Police Department.
