MILWAUKEE – The City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) and Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) in conjunction with the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Heat Health Advisory for Tuesday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 15 in Southeastern Wisconsin. The NWS forecast indicates the Heat Index values of 100 to 105 degrees are expected across the area on Tuesday afternoon and again on Wednesday afternoon.
To prevent heat-related illness or death, the Milwaukee Health Department advises citizens to take the following precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
The MHD will be enhancing surveillance for heat-related illness in the coming days, and working with Milwaukee Metropolitan Extreme Weather Task Force partners to address vulnerable population needs during this period. Those in need of emergency services during heat advisories, watches, or warnings should call Impact 211 for assistance.
