1999 Downtown Plan

Location:

The 1999 Downtown Plan recognized the boundaries of Downtown Milwaukee as Walnut Street to the north, I-43 to the west, the Menomonee river to the sought and Lake Michigan to th east.

Plan Goals:

» Create a downtown that is appealing to visitors, current and potential investors, and current potential residents

» Guide development of downtown property and public space to create a more vibrant, active and exciting place to live, work, learn and play.

Plan Objectives:

» Increase the amount and variety of downtown housing.

» Expand the number and variety of destination entertainment venues in the downtown.

» Provide attractive options for travel within downtown.

» Maintain downtown as the metropolitian area's single largest concentration of office development.

» Make walking attractive, easier and convenient.

» Take maximum advantage of the special features found downtown.

» Achieve maximum benefit from major private and public investments.
