Campaign Finance Reporting

Campaign Committees for nonpartisan candidates participating in the Spring Election are required to file a Spring Pre-Primary Campaign Finance Report, if there is a primary for their seat, and a Spring Pre-Election Campaign Finance Report.

Any local Campaign Committee registered with MEC must file a campaign finance report in January and July, unless they are registered as Exempt.

The Wisconsin Ethics Commissions tracks due dates for all Campaign Finance Reports.

Campaign Finance Report Type Due Date *Reporting Period
July Continuing 2026 07/15/2026 01/01/2026 - 06/30/2026
January Continuing 2027 01/15/2027 07/01/2026 - 12/31/2026
Spring Pre-Primary 2027 TBD
Spring Pre-Election 2027  TBD
July Continuing 2027  TBD

*If there is no primary required, then the committee is expected to report on their Spring Pre-Election Campaign Finance Report, financial activity from the 01/01 through the pre-election period. If a campaign committee is not up for Election, then their July campaign finance report will report for the full six months. There should never be a gap between any reports.
