Election Commission
Results are not considered official until the City of Milwaukee Board of Election Commissioners (BOEC) canvass and certify results. Canvass can only occur once the deadline to cure provisional ballots has passed, which is the Friday after Election Day at 4:45 p.m. Canvass and certification will typically occur either in the evening on the Friday after Election Day or the Monday after Election Day in the morning. Canvass is open to the public. Once the BOEC members certify the election results, those results are submitted to the Milwaukee County Election Commission (MCEC), which will conduct their certification. The MCEC will submit official results for the entire county to the State of Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC). WEC certifies election results for the State of Wisconsin.
