Property Tax Exemptions
Property tax exemptions are governed by Wisconsin state law, and for properties in the City of Milwaukee, are determined by the City Assessor. Get property tax exemption information, general information from the Assessor’s Office.
Please be aware of the property tax exemption request form (State of WI form PR-230) (the initial application for tax exemption that must be tendered to the City of Milwaukee Assessor’s Office by March 1); and, if an exemption is granted, please be aware of the property tax exemption report, required to be filed every two years in even numbered years, to retain your tax exemption (form PC-220). The link provided to the Assessor’s Office also features a section called “Tax Exemption Resources” which may answer any questions you have regarding this subject.
