The Office of Public Relations disseminates information externally to the public via telephone inquiries and through the use of electronic, print and social media. In addition, the office relays information interdepartmentally through memos, videos, electronic correspondence and education. Information may include, but is not limited to; high profile investigations, crime statistics, and community programs and engagement.
Information is disseminated using multiple communication tools which allow for the information to reach a large, diverse range of individuals. Whether it is through news conferences and news releases with the local media, in-person community engagement or education events, the goal is to be as communicative and informative as possible.
The Office of Public Relations fields requests for interviews, speakers and appearances by department members. These requests come from various entities such as schools, professional organizations, local, national and international media outlets, and community members.
