Extra Duty and Special Event Employment Program

The Milwaukee Police Department’s (MPD) Extra Duty and Special Event Employment Program was created to give local businesses and event organizers the opportunity to hire off-duty Milwaukee Police Officers. The principal goal is to provide safety and security to city of Milwaukee businesses and special events hosted in the city of Milwaukee.

*Note this does not serve as a request for services; it is simply a request for information.  If the request submitted qualifies for MPD’s Extra Duty and Special Event Employment Program, your business agent will be required to sign an agreement form with the Milwaukee Police Department.
 

Basic Guidelines-

• Approval and staffing of an event can take up to approximately 30 days from the date the agreement form is submitted.

• Current rates as of 11/2023 are as follows:

  Police Officer	$ 65.25 per hour
  Motorcycle Officer	$ 65.63 per hour
  Supervisor (required for every three officers)	$ 79.06 per hour
  Forensic Investigator	$ 67.43 per hour
  Detective	$ 71.88 per hour
  Lieutenant (required when two or more supervisors are required)	$ 83.97 per hour

  * A 10% administrative fee will be added to the total invoice

• All officers are subject to recall from an extra-duty employment job site in the event of an emergency as determined by the Chief of Police or designee.
• There is a 3 hour minimum per officer
• A 3-hour minimum fee per officer charge will be incurred with any cancellation made within 72 hours or less of the event.
• Sign up is voluntary and not guaranteed and last-minute cancellations from officers can occur.
• Requests for a specific officer(s) is prohibited.
• MPD cannot staff bars or taverns.
