Assistant Chief Leslie Thiele

Assistant Chief Leslie Thiele was appointed to the Milwaukee Police Department in 1996.  In her 24 years Assistant Chief Thiele had the opportunity to work in Districts One, Two, Three, Six, Seven, Internal Affairs, the Criminal Investigation Bureau, and the Neighborhood Task Force (now called the Specialized Patrol Division) as a patrol officer, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and inspector.  She has always believed in teamwork, developing employees through training, encouraging diversity within the ranks and working toward legitimacy within the department. 

Assistant Chief Thiele holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Science degree in Management from Cardinal Stritch University.  She is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police, the International Associations of Chiefs of Police Leadership in Police Organizations and was awarded the Leadership Trilogy Award from the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association.  

Assistant Chief Thiele was promoted to her current rank in August of 2020 and is assigned to oversee the Patrol Division.  She is committed to moving the department forward and collaborating with our community partners to make the city of Milwaukee the best it can be.
